DD3000 - Sustainability
Sustainability is characterised by 3 main areas; Social, Environmental and Financial. Sustainability is usually characterised by monitary or environmental motives only, however achieving all three will help optimise the products market value.

DD3000 - Cultures
What is the difference between cultures?
Cultures can differ totally from one another, groups of cultures are often similar however (holding stereotypes) for example, eastern europe, australasia, british empire, middle east etc.
Culture is often defined or rooted in religion, these usually represent the main differences between cultures.
Culture is usually brought through from history, contemporary culture does not usually carry the same weight or ifluence on a people. The age old things that are ingrained in society are usually more important and often capitalised on. (mothers day, christmas, halloween, valentines day etc)

DD3000 - Project Plan Final
Project Plan
For my Contextual Studies Assignment – Games Futures I will
be producing a 3000 word report, presented in a visually rich format. We were
required to choose a future event or anniversary focussed away from
contemporary games and technology whilst also taking into consideration that
this theme would need to hold enough substance and personal interest to last
two semesters. With this in mind I have chosen to look into the subject of the United
States of America – South Korea Combined Forces Command which is set to
dissolve in 2015. Its origination in the Korea War, involvement of North Korea
and speculation over the events that will follow the dissolution of the treaty
mean the subject holds enough to drive the module.
I will discuss and analyse my research in order to fully
understand the subject matter. This knowledge will then be used to speculate on
potential future scenarios within Games Design; before taking those ideas on to
Assignment 2 next semester. This project will help me improve my research,
documentation, analytical and essay writing skills, looking in particular at
the political, economic, philosophical, social and cultural impacts. In
addition to testing my presentation skills and ability to emulate an aesthetic
in Photoshop.
As the subject is military based and associated with Korea (a
split nation the northern of which has heavy connotations in modern media for
being an oppressive totalitarian nation with blatant disregard for others) and
the United States (a nation riddled with conspiracy and military secrecy) I
have decided to present the report as a classified or recently declassified
document.
Aims For the Project
·
Develop
my research skills using only trusted sources and making sure I keep track of
my referencing – doing so in the APA format
·
Generate
a Top Secret document design inspired by my findings making sure I still convey
the report efficiently whilst keeping it visually consistent
·
Explore
the impacts of the Combined Forces Command making sure I look at the event
through several outlets and lenses
·
Identify
potential ideas and scenarios which can be carried forward to XB3002
·
Create
a visually rich report, emphasising on design
·
Maintain
a blog keeping track of my progress
Intended Actions
·
Research
into the CFC looking at the implications through the lenses of:
§ Culture
§ Politics
§ Philosophy
o
Whilst
also looking at the reasons why it was initiated, who it benefits and the
likely implications of its dissolution
·
Research
Top Secret documents to get an idea of how to format my report
·
Review,
discuss and analyse my findings on the CFC reflecting upon the impacts it
has/is/will have.
·
Maintain
a research blog (Blogger) to support the report
·
Generate
a classified document to house my report that is visually stimulating,
realistic, legible and appropriate
·
Finalise
the report for physical and digital submission
Deliverables
The files will be presented digitally on disc; report will
also be submitted physically in the Top Secret Document Format.
·
Research
blog
·
Submit
finished report digitally and physically as a top secret document
